A special thanks to three and to 3,000

A child named Toby accompanied his young brother and his parents, who are university researchers.  They came to live and work in Tanzania.  Toby died here, suddenly, unexpectedly in 2005.  His parents and friends, and the staff at Rutgers University and Livingston Day Care Center have never stopped giving in his memory.  Their giving has meant life to many young Tanzanians, and has to date totaled more than $15,400.

At the end of 2008, a middle aged man named Alois turned 50.  Flying Medical Service is only half his age.  Alois gave years of his life as a young man, teaching young Tanzanians to be motor vehicle mechanics.  Many of them have since served as maintenance technicians for remote rural hospitals.  Alois asked his friends not to give him birthday gifts, but instead to give help to Flying Medical Service patients.  His friends gave $ 5,100 for his birthday.

An elderly man named Jim, who has never traveled outside his own country, who never had children of his own, has -- month after month after month, without fail -- for more than 20 years, given  $ 2,000 to help other people's children half-a-world away.

People who need help, receive help, because other people notice, and respond.  The people above, are but three of the many thousands who make Flying Medical Service's work possible.  With deep thanks from all those whose lives your lives have touched, and with much gratitude on behalf of those who have a chance to live because of you, we are
